Sphericall Web Services platform and next generation video and browser-based IP Telephones unifies Enterprise and Internet Communications

Internet Telephony Conference & Expo East 2007booth #910 FT. LAUDERDALE, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Sphere Communications announced today it will demonstrate Sphericall's latest web services technology enhancements for unified communications on next generation IP phones at the Internet Telephony Expo next week. Sphericall provides flexible and powerful communications call controls, unified communications services, high quality video, and internet/intranet information to new micro-browser based IP telephones from Polycom, Aastra and integrated IP video phones from Tandberg.
"The use of web services are making communications capabilities pervasive across applications of all kinds," said Todd Landry, Senior Vice President, Sphere Communications, "Anywhere there is access to people and information, whether it's a business application, a mobile device, a browser, or an IP telephone, Sphericall enables easy access to communications services."

Building upon its software-based unified communications services engine, featuring a powerful suite of web services capabilities, Sphere is expanding its engine to include an integral web server that can host a range of services for browser-based devices such as IP telephones. Providing an open system that can be easily programmed using standard scripting, XML files and a set of Call Control & Media Services functions the system can be easily customized to adapt to the needs of enterprises and their business applications. Built on open industry standards, the Sphere communications services engine makes it easy for enterprises, ISVs, and developers to optimize their unified communications to their business needs.

The demonstration will include personal video conference phones illustrating next generation desktop video conferencing as a unified enterprise communications solution, micro-browser based IP telephones showing integrated unified messaging services including numerous RSS feeds that include the ability for users to get traffic information, weather reports, or the latest news updates and how a business can provide critical news and alerts to employees such as emergency weather or company meetings.

"The flexibility of Web Services is allowing our channel partners and customers to more easily adapt communications to their business needs," said Pat Henkle, Director of Product Management, Sphere Communications, "These new capabilities are very much aligned with the transformation taking place in the industry and we're very excited to be showcasing our leading edge technology as this event."

Sphericall's SOAP/XML based Web Services allow businesses to integrate the system with other business applications such as CRM, HR, ERP, SCM and other systems that are part of their SOA (Services Oriented Architecture), allowing them to link certain information directly to employees telephone screens such as daily sales volumes, promotions, inventory status, and more.

The demonstration this week will also show video interaction between personal video phones using SIP technology and how these devices can communicate with the Sphericall Desktop soft-video-phone for Windows. Video collaboration is increasingly becoming and important part of the interaction in business. The ability to unify communications among individuals and groups of individuals where video is more of an automatic component of the conversation is becoming much more integrated with the companies unified communications core.

Sphere Communications will be hosting the demonstration in booth #910 at the Internet Telephony Conference and Expo. Sphere executives can also be found leading the opening keynote address and speaking across many events in the conference during the show.
