| Siemens AG Industrial Steam Turbines business unit adopts source code management tool and implements other Seapine ALM solutions at various divisions Cincinnati, OH – September 24, 2009 – Seapine Software, a leading global provider of quality-centric application lifecycle management (ALM) solutions, today announced that the Siemens AG Industrial Steam Turbines business unit has standardized on Seapine’s Surround SCM for enterprise-level source code management. With Seapine’s Surround SCM, Siemens AG has better control over the software code in its development process and enhanced collaboration for better productivity and efficiency. Like many technology providers in the energy sector, Siemens’ Oil and Gas Division has a paramount task: develop innovative solutions for boosting the efficiency of turbine-generated electrical power to extract, convert, and transport oil and gas. The business unit’s R&D group is responsible for developing and maintaining the software code that performs the complex physical calculations used to drive the powerful steam turbines. The Siemens AG Industrial Steam Turbines business unit required a comprehensive source code management solution that could support their complex branching requirements and enable enterprise-wide configuration management and collaboration for its large, geographically distributed development team. Siemens chose Seapine’s Surround SCM enterprise source code management solution after a technical benchmark against other competitive products, such as Perforce and Microsoft Team Foundation Server. "We continually evaluate technology solutions that can advance our competitive edge and help our customers deliver higher quality products," said Thomas Petzold, software development team manager for industrial steam turbine R&D, Siemens AG Oil and Gas Division. "After conducting a long-term cost of ownership analysis, Surround SCM offered us the best ROI for the investment. It gives us a complete set of capabilities that meets our product development requirements." Siemens AG has implemented other Seapine Software ALM solutions in software development and IT departments at various divisions. For instance, the IT group at the Financial Solutions division uses Seapine’s issue management solution, TestTrack Pro, to effectively manage the change request process for a wide range of financial activities, facilitate collaboration among its globally dispersed IT team, and enforce regulatory compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley mandates. The Siemens Enterprise Communications division uses Seapine’s TestTrack Pro, TestTrack TCM, and Surround SCM products to manage issues, test cases, and the software change process. Other product development and IT organizations at Siemens have also implemented Seapine’s ALM solutions to ensure best practices and deliver quality software products.
