Klocwork expands presence in automotive sector with its unique combination of MISRA and critical defect detection

Burlington, Mass. – May 25, 2010 – Klocwork, Inc., the global leader in automated source code analysis solutions for improving developer productivity, today announced that ACTIA, a major player in vehicle electronics and diagnostics, has selected Klocwork to help ensure the quality and reliability of its software-driven automotive solutions. ACTIA will deploy Klocwork Insight static analysis to provide automatic detection of critical defects in its C, C++ and Java code and to enable compliance with the Motor Industry Software Reliability Association (MISRA) coding standards.

As a designer and manufacturer of diagnostics and onboard systems for the automotive industry, ACTIA has set high standards for its software engineering practices. Looking to improve upon its existing quality-focused processes, ACTIA decided to add static code analysis to its standard development practice. After a thorough evaluation supported by Klocwork's European partner Emenda, it was a combination of Klocwork Insight's critical defect detection, support for MISRA, and its integration with Microsoft Visual Studio that lead to its selection.

"We were impressed by the quality of defects Klocwork Insight found, how quickly it found them, and how easily we were able to integrate the solution at the developer desktop," says Christian Desmoulins, CEO, ACTIA. "We believe Klocwork will play an important role in helping ACTIA continue to produce high-quality, fault-free products."

"Thanks to heightened media coverage related to vehicle quality and safety concerns, the prevalence and increasing complexity of software used in the automotive industry has really come to light of late," says Mike Laginski, CEO, Klocwork. "ACTIA recognizes the value that static analysis brings to ensuring that all automotive software is of the highest quality possible and we are pleased to be able to support their efforts."
