Configuration Intelligence - Analytics Optimizes IT Process
By Correlating Behavioral Information and Systems Management Metrics

COLORADO SPRINGS, CO  - June 27, 2007 - Systems management technology innovator Configuresoft, Inc., today delivered the next phase of its Configuration IntelligenceT initiative Configuration Intelligence-Analytics.

Analytics is a core component of Configuresoft's Configuration Intelligence initiative. With the use of Analytics, businesses gain critical insight into the IT organization. Across people, processes, and technology, analytics identifies what's working and what's not - the good citizens versus the bad - and allows the organization to move beyond best practices to the optimization of IT processes yielding sustained, continuous improvement.

"Siemens has delivered process excellence by adopting a Six Sigma approach. But as we look to drive the process of continuous improvement further, we've recognized that the envelope is defined by our current analysis techniques and manual process," said Paul Brassil, Vice President of Infrastructure Management Services, Siemens (NYSE: SI), a joint development customer for Configuresoft's Configuration Intelligence Initiative. "With Configuresoft's Analytics solution, we will be able to further automate the collection, correlation and analysis of disparate metrics from across systems, services, and business units, taking the noise out of managing the IT enterprise. This clarity ensures IT can focus on optimization of the enterprise, improving customer service levels and delivering a more agile infrastructure to support our global expansion."

Much like traditional business intelligence applications, Configuration Intelligence-Analytics is both a measurement and a management solution that gives organizations visibility into granular distributed systems management information from a wide variety of sources including provisioning, service desk, performance monitoring, and multiple Configuration Management Databases (CMDBs). It then delivers a dashboard of key performance indicators and metrics needed to clearly articulate strategy and vision, translating them into executable goals.

"The delivery of Configuration Intelligence-Analytics helps organizations move beyond best practices to optimization, transforming IT costs centers into more business aligned, strategic assets," said Andrew Bird, Vice President of Configuresoft. "By filling in the gaps in what's known about overall system performance and correlating behavioral information gathered from legacy systems management solutions, these advanced analytics help IT professionals quickly understand where the IT Service delivery can be optimized."

Examples of where Analytics can connect the dots across disparate information to enable optimization include everything from trouble tickets frequency to the long-term performance, security and costs of certain hardware, configurations and management postures.

Balanced Business Scorecards and Key Performance Indicators

One of the valuable analytics and reporting mechanisms delivered by Configuration Intelligence-Analytics today are Balanced Business Scorecards. Balanced Business Scorecards quantifies and reports on the best and worst performing system configurations, security postures, manufacturers and locations across the enterprise allowing businesses to apply their real world best practices to the whole of their organization.

Additionally, with user-defined Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), organizations can quickly highlight and correlate significant or alarming variations in change requests, outages, availability, faulty build processes, costly configurations, or even sudden rise in trouble tickets associate with recent configuration changes.

Leveraging both KPIs and Balanced Business Scorecards, IT organizations can evolve from reactive response to predictive planning making the business more agile. These advanced analytics bring a new level of insight into enterprise IT infrastructure, enabling analysts to understand cause and effect, identify an organization's good citizens versus its bad citizens and ultimately become a more strategic asset.

According to Dennis Drogseth, vice president, Enterprise Management Associates, "If service quality is to improve and become more consistent with constrained resources - IT should look to integrate change management with a clear view of IT assets, incident management and service impact management. Doing that efficiently requires cohesive visibility into both the 'real' world and the 'intended' universe, combined with effective policies for process controls.  This single pane of glass combined with consistent processes should lead over time to more advanced levels of automation and analytics."

The Configuration Intelligence Initiative

Today's announcement delivers the next major milestone of Configuresoft's Configuration Intelligence Initiative, which was announced earlier this year. Through powerful correlation and optimization techniques, Configuration Intelligence transforms operational data and organizational behavior into the actionable business insights necessary for making better, faster, more effective decisions.

Developed jointly with Configuresoft customers ? some of the largest enterprises in the world ? these analytics not only validate rapid systems changes, but also highlight trends, signal potential problems and better prepare organizations to capitalize on new technologies like virtualization and Service Oriented Architectures (SOA).

Configuration Intelligence-Analytics is available immediately as a module for Configuresoft's ECM solution. Pricing starts at $50,000.
