The Methodology Behind the Report

To arrive at the correct market definitions for this report, Gartner considers applications to be in the PPM market if they support most of the nine areas described in the Project Management Body of Knowledge from the Project Management Institute (PMI). The prerequisite core is an integrated approach to the areas of resource, time and cost management. A mixture of six major factors and how well a solution and its provider meet them mainly determines inclusion in the IT PPM Magic Quadrant.
