feb-09-responsiblebig This is the second "Real Option" comic strip. I've just finished the first draft of the third episode and started thinking about the fourth. Publishing the first comic was a real learning curve. As a result, I had a great conversation with my father about type faces and fonts. He is a retired printer and finishing artist. He told me about Eric Gill's sans serif. The serif is a little bit of the font that was was created when block makers and stone masons finished off a letter. Unfortunately this serif makes it harder to read text and can fire off peoples Irlen syndrome. He told me that the words I had written were too close together which also made it harder to read. Unfortunately I had almost finished the first draft of the second episode so none of this learning has filtered through. Hopefully things are better in episode three.

Emm's comment gave me hope. It indicates there might have been something interesting AFTER the "Lets look at example comment". In the first page of the comic strip I was trying to say something about learning. Sometimes learning best takes place in a space that is comfortable and unhurried, somewhere both learner and person helping the other learn are comfortable. I hoped to created a sense of ease and slow the flow down a bit rather than dive straight into the nitty gritty. I would ask you to consider how much time you spend with the comic compared to reading an article on a similar subject.
