Report highlights IONA’s differentiated approach with its FUSE™ family of open source products
DUBLIN, Ireland & WALTHAM, Mass.--IONA® Technologies (NASDAQ:
IONA), a world leader in distributed service-oriented architecture
(SOA) infrastructure solutions for performance-demanding IT
environments was recognized by leading competitive analysis firm
Current Analysis as a ‘unique player within the SOA market.’ In a
recent competitive intelligence report covering IONA’s FUSE™ family of
open source products, Current Analysis highlights that the current FUSE
release builds upon ‘both brand and technology acquired from
LogicBlaze’ and ‘dramatically helps IONA differentiate its open source
SOA products.’
The report also points to IONA’s strong ties
to the Apache Software Foundation and the company’s
high level of community involvement with a number of employees who are
founders and committers on highly influential Apache products. Coupled
with IONA’s internal engineering work on
FUSE, Current Analysis reports that ‘IONA
will provide a compelling alternative to unsupported Apache
installations and rival pure play open source vendors.’
Current Analysis believes IONA’s methodology
for implementing changes ahead of the Apache Software Foundation project
releases is also ‘an important differentiator’.
IONA integrates, tests and certifies code from early Apache releases and
makes them available to customers under a certified and warranted
product offering in FUSE. Customers can therefore deploy the latest
technology which is tested by IONA and fully supported.
“With FUSE, IONA is making it possible for
enterprise customers to take advantage of open source technology within
their strategic SOA initiatives,” said Brad
Shimmin, principle analyst, Current Analysis. “By
offering leading open source projects from the Apache Software
Foundation as tested, certified and warranted product offerings coupled
with a complete set of support, training and consulting services, IONA
is further differentiating itself as a unique player within the SOA
market.”
“I’m pleased that
our unique approach to distributed SOA which was pioneered by IONA’s
Artix™ suite of commercially licensed SOA
products, continues to receive independent validation in the market with
FUSE,” said Peter Zotto, CEO, IONA
Technologies. “Enterprise customers that
recognize the value of this distributed approach and want to take
advantage of open source within their SOA environments are deploying
Artix and FUSE today as part of their strategic SOA initiatives.”
Further information on IONA FUSE is available at the FUSE community Web
